Park City Adventures

The kids got to hang out with their two new friends all day. We got to Park City around 9:00am and didn't leave until close to 3:00pm. They are now snoring it off. Their new friends are shelter dogs rescued by their mom and dad and are some sort of husky something or others. Supposedly the male is slightly dog aggressive but they all get along fantastically including at the dog park where we started the day. Someone attempted to get our photo but of course we couldn't get them all to look at the camera together.

For those not in Salt Lake City, Park city is where the winter Olympic skiing and other sports were held in 2000 (was it 2000?) It's basically a posh ski town. They had a block long farmers market and the Park Silly Market that they hold every summer on main. We strolled both markets then up and down main looking in the shop windows and walking the dogs. There's several cool statues up and down the street. The Indian one was my favorite.

What day in Utah would not be complete without the large cup of Starbucks! Yes Joseph Smith forbid a cub of HOT CAFFEINE! Some of you might just get that joke :o) So we lounged outside the local Starbucks then walked around the outlet mall. The dogs got plenty of pets and looks. Rocky as you can see from his photo has his boots on and Shika was carrying her back pack. I think this time the "oh the dog has a backpack" got trumped by "oh he's wearing shoes!" His paws are still getting torn up walking too long. Poor guy didn't know he was moving in with two crazy hiking/walking chics.

Chui has the facial structure of my old girl Mallory who was also husky (shepherd) mix.

I looked up this bird when I moved here because I see them all over. I believe it's a magpie. Strange name for a bird.

Friends of Animals Rescue and Rehab Grand Opening!

Friends of Animals Rescue and Rehab had their grand opening today and allowed the public to wonder around their facilities. It was a beautiful place. Most, if not all of the materials were donated so the lady giving us the tour said some of the windows were mismatched as well as doors but it was not noticeable at all. They also have an adoption center at the outlet malls between Salt Lake and Park City. Amazingly they have been paying to board all of there animals! What an expense! To check out their operation the web site is http://www.foautah.org/.

I organize a hiking/walking group and a few friends met me up there with their pups.

This is the crazy London with owners Lauren and Rochelle:

My other friends daughter made a great attempt to get a photo of my two with Gracie the Great Dane who was actually adopted from Furburbia (Friends of Animals Utah):

Here's my two crazy kids enjoying their outing with their friends:

Can you tell who's got a biscuit?

And Rocky had to supervise the photo downloading:

Pipeline Trail Millcreek Canyon

We went on a really nice hike today, minus the dweeb at the end of the trail. Rocky did not want to hike on the way back though. We might be back to a girls only hiking team if he can't get it together. I'm guessing it's a little bit altitude a little bit out of shape including his paws still.

I hiked up with some nice people that were transfered here about 5 years ago from Washington state. I offered to take a photo of both of them so in turn they offered to take one of all three of us. So for the rare photo here we are together instead of just dog photos.

Here's the wimpy boy hanging his tongue trying to cool off at the look out point.

And who could leave out my tough girl! She went on a hike with me two summers ago to the top of Timpanogos peak. That hike was over 8 hours long and close to 16 miles give or take depending on who you talk to. She's my momma's girl!

And who could forget the view.

Delta Society Evaluation

Well they LOVED Rocky at the Delta Society evaluation. He needs work on his stay so will be re-evaluated in September. They thought he would be fantastic in their program and made me promise to bring him back for another eval. He passed everything else with flying colors.
They were totally impressed with the fact that he's only been with me for 3-4 months and that we did so well together. Can't wait till September! We will be working on our stay and a couple small things until then.
After his evaluation today we went to see the chalk art at the Gateway Mall in Salt Lake City. Very impressive art! Here's a couple of my favorites:

Random Dog Pics

We are again experiencing a rainy spring. I don't care much for rainy hiking so spent the day cleaning and took the dogs for a few short walks. The good news is a friend came over who may be moving in. I'm sure the dogs will like the company and I will like a little less financial stress.

Here's my little sleeping boy. And my beauty queen.

Delta Society

Well I actually went a weekend with out a hike. I have been walking with a woman and her two dogs every other Sunday but it was too hot for her one dog today so walked less than 45 minutes. There was water rushing through the little canyon so the dogs got to play in the water so that was at least fun for them.

Yesterday I spend the entire day at the Delta Society training. The first session is the human training the next hurdle is running the dog through a test. Rocky will be the first as I think he'll do better in the clinical setting. Shika freaks a bit when going to the vet so don't know if she'll do the same going to the hospital. Mainly though it's a costly adventure. The training costs, the tests cost, but more than that they have to do a full health check at the vets. I'm hoping I can use the visit from a month ago and just have the extra stuff done. We'll see what my vet says. Rocky's test is at 12:30 on the 19th. Wish him luck!

This is a photo from last week that my friend took that I really loved.
